Witness in ‘duck thief ’ murder trial to testify today

JUSTICE  Winston Patterson, the presiding judge at the Demerara  Assizes at the trial of murder accused  Jainarine  Persaud ,42, and Andy Jagmohan ,26, for the unlawful killing of Audi Peters at Grove, East Bank Demerara, in 2008 , began taking evidence on Tuesday. Three witnesses have already testified and a fourth who is alleging that the deceased was a regular duck thief in the area is expected to testify today.
Attorney-at-law,  Mr. Khemraj  Ramjattan, in association with lawyer Mr. Neil Persram, is defending,  while lawyers Miss Teshana James and Miss Rhondel Weaver  are prosecuting.
In her opening address to the jury,  prosecutor  James, who did not disclose a motive for the crime, promised to lead witnesses to show that the killing was deliberate with an intention to kill or to cause grievous bodily harm.
Witness, Police Constable 19843, Jason Kyte, of Grove Police Station,  testified  that relative to a report of the murder committed on  Audi Peters  on January 28, 2008, he assisted in the investigations.
Witness David Persaud testified that on the night of the murder, he was aroused by a noise.   Witness said that he ran outside and saw a negro man lying on the road in a pool of blood.  The man appeared to be unconscious.
Witness said that he took the man to the Diamond Hospital.
The hearing continues  today.
