Jailed, fined for unlicensed shotgun, ammunition

FRANCIS Andrews (no address given) was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $150,000 after being convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He pleaded guilty, before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, to having a 20-gauge shotgun and three matching cartridges, on March 3, without being the holder of licences for them.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said ranks, acting on information received, went to a mining camp and found the defendant with the illegal items and he claimed they were given to him by a Brazilian, to use for hunting.
