FOOD for the Poor Guyana Inc. (FFP) presented child friendly gifts to several day care centres and orphanages, at its Festival City, Georgetown headquarters on Tuesday, in its continuing efforts to aid the less fortunate. The largess distributed included baby wash kits, infant play yards, baby shoes, stuffed toys, pencils, Sunday school and exercise books, anti-bacterial soap and cleaning supplies and those who received them expressed gratitude on behalf of their principals.
Among those to benefit were municipal day care centres in Festival City, East Ruimveldt, Industrial Site, Charlestown and South Road and Bright Horizon and Beacon Foundation day cares, as well as Camal Home, Save ‘R’ Kids, Ruimveldt Children’s Home and Children’s Convalescent Home.
At the presentation, FFP Executive Director, Mr. Leon Davis said that one of the main aims of the charitable organisation is to ensure that children get the necessary help needed for their educational and physical enhancement.
“These are the best years of these children’s lives and they need the kind of help to move along and make them better leaders of tomorrow,” he posited.
Davis also assured the recipients that FFP would always do its best to address their needs.
“…we might not have all of the resources now but we have some to make them happy and comfortable for the time,” he stated.
Davis encouraged the beneficiaries to take good care of what they were given and make good use of them.
He disclosed that some furniture are expected to arrive from China shortly and would enable FFP to furnish the day care centres in various communities.
“I will always assist in creating better leaders of the future,” Davis pledged.
