Dr. Jagan’s grandson promises to serve the nation

The now calendar event programme, which commenced shortly after 1500 hours with a wreath-laying ceremony at the crematorium by the President and his entourage, featured reflections by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, readings of excerpted passages from Dr. Jagan’s writings by students of the Courantyne comprehensive and JC Chandisingh High Schools, a presentation by PPP General-Secretary Donald Ramotar, an unscheduled address by Dr. Cheddi’s beloved eldest grandson, Cheddi Jagan 3rd, the traditional calypso by Mighty Kendingo from Evesham, with the feature address being delivered by His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo.
In welcome remarks, M.C. of the proceedings, Region 6 Chairman, Mr. Zulfikar Mustapha said that Dr. Jagan has left the nation with the treasure of his superb vision for the eradication of poverty and human suffering, and for the creation of a morale of peace, freedom and social justice.
He noted that Dr. Jagan’s entire political life has been a total dedication to the struggle for the good of Guyana, the Caribbean, and the world over, and asserted the President Bharrat Jagdeo has concretized Dr. Jagan’s vision to the level where Guyana, once ranked as the poorest nation in the hemisphere, is now classified as a middle-income country.
In a brief address, beloved grandson of Dr. Cheddi and Mrs. Janet Jagan, Cheddi Jagan 3rd, expressed his appreciation that so many persons still support the vision that his grandfather had for Guyana and said that he found it truly remarkable that so many persons still care for and love his grandfather and are prepared to continue to work toward (the realization of) his vision for the Guyanese people.
Youthful Cheddi 3rd disclosed that he recently graduated from law school and has returned home, prepared to serve his country and to try to help in the propagation of the work that his iconic grandfather had initiated and set in train to, by inference, develop Guyana and its people.
