Milerock FC anticipating support of corporate Guyana ahead of CFU match

AS MILEROCK prepare for their first kick at the Caribbean Football Union’s Inter-club championship, the football club’s manager Claude Williams says the currently ranked number two club in Guyana, after playing second to national champions Alpha United in the National Super League championship, are brimful of confidence that the sponsors who were approached for assistance will deliver ahead of their first round tie against Suriname’s Intermoengatope next Sunday March 13 at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground. In a release to the media,  Williams said the top Linden club has a $4.5M budget aimed at providing the platform to launch out at this level confidently and take on the challenge of this international encounter.
He  further stated that Milerock have, among other things, won the national club championship twice before and now seek to answer the call to have a successful debut at this competitive Caribbean club championship as they aim to give exposure to their young talented players.
With the week drawing to a close, Williams said that because the players were not encamped for the planned ten days, it is likely that from tomorrow the Milerock players, currently training at the Wisrock Community Centre ground, will be encamped for at least five days heading into the encounter.
Williams remarked that his club is anticipating a positive response from Guyana, at large, especially the Government and corporate Guyana for assistance.
He expressed optimism in the sponsors who were approached, among whom are the Government of Guyana through the Presidential Adviser Odinga Lumumba who has been the point man, Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Compan (GT&T), Ansa McAl Trading, Church’s Chicken and Bosai Minerals Group Guyana.
The Milerock team is coached by former national player of the 1990s, Bryan Joseph, who said Milerock has a crop of young players who will show their worth and make the town of Linden proud.
Meanwhile, National Under-20 coach Collie Hercules has joined the Technical Staff and is assisting head coach Joseph in the build-up to the encounter,
Manager Williams also noted that Milerock is the only club from Linden in recent memory to have qualified for this CFU championship and he is looking forward to this international exposure as he implores the many sponsors to give their support.
