Crystalite’s ‘Explosion +’ for NCC Sunday

CRYSTALITE Dance Company will next Sunday be holding its ‘Explosion +’ at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) at 8pm.
Directors, Carey and Patricia Bookie, both dancers themselves, came up with the show’s concept, which will highlight contemporary dances such as Hip-Hop, Latino, Gospel, African and Ballroom.
The show will also feature members of the ‘X Factor’ dance troupe, and Indian dance exponents Narissa and Vanessa Arjune.
The Bookies have been dancing for more than 15 years, and won several awards for their outstanding performances locally.
Those awards include the ‘Dance Mania’ title four years in a row, and the National Interpreter Dance title for three consecutive years.
Their school consists of over 30 students, and is located in East Ruimveldt, southeast of  the city, where Carey Bookie, who is largely self-taught, teaches aerobics, physical and dance instructor.
He began running the school since he was 16, and has since given of his time to engage in several charitable events locally.
Overseas, the Bookies have performed in Nickerie, Suriname and in Boa Vista, Brazil, both of which locations saw large audiences of aspiring dancers in attendance.
During the show Sunday, hampers will be given to lucky customers during the evening. The hampers were donated by Namilco, Sterling Products and Edward B. Beharry.
