Congratulations again, Dr. Jagdeo

IT has brought great joy to my heart, and I am sure to most right thinking Guyanese for our beloved President of the Republic of Guyana to again be blessed with another prestigious Honorary Doctorate, this time from Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil University in India. While the naysayers and doomsday predictors are probably eating their hearts out and biting their finger nails in anger and jealousy, Dr. Jagdeo continues to blaze his legacy in gold, and lead with a hand of love and statesmanship.
I believe Dr. Jagdeo will be marked as one of the greatest leaders of Guyana, and maybe even of the Caribbean. The international recognitions are testament to his contributions to not only Guyana, but to the world as well.  Every right thinking Guyanese should be happy and most proud of this achievement of our President, as it brings to Guyana great recognition and honour.
I believe that all citizens must be happy at such honour bestowed on their leaders, be it whichever government, and whosoever is the president. Had it been even the late Forbes Burnham being given such an award, I would have been happy.
I see Guyana’s president, Dr. Jagdeo in time being a great international statesman and leader, even maybe taking up an important appointment in the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Nations, or as a great mediator and negotiator of nations and peoples. Despite being quite a young man on appointment as President, he served and continues to serve with great wisdom and intellect.
He always calls on his peoples to think big; take chances; work hard. I believe these factors of positive thought and universal wisdom are what made him big, yet humble; powerful yet meek, and notwithstanding those characteristics, he has never been weak. It makes me even feel more comforted to see that even those sections of the citizenry who may criticize or condemn him, that he reaches out to them, and fulfills their needs and requests.
He will live in the minds of men for a long time, and in decades to come the citizens of Guyana will recall his contributions, as they do Dr. Cheddi Jagan, Mrs. Janet Jagan and Mr. Hugh Desmond Hoyte.
Go on, Mr. President, Dr. (twice) Bharrat Jagdeo, and continue to write your name in the sands of time.
