ON THE occasion of Guyana’s 41st Republic Anniversary, one would expect the involvement of all Guyanese. The event, as we all know, speaks to all of us, despite our race, religion or political affiliations.
Like many other decisions made by the PNC/R in the past, I am disappointed with the party’s decision to absent itself from the annual float parade.
One would recall that the last time the PNC/R took part in this activity was in 2006, which was dubbed by many as an election campaign method of the party. I have often said to people that I don’t have a problem with any of the major political parties in this country. However, I have also said oftentimes, in the same breath, that I “prefer the PPP/C more than the PNC”. That has to do largely with the way the latter relates to the masses, something the PNC seems to have a difficulty doing.
Come on guys, as a political party that hopes to be the government of this country sometime in the future, you need to impress the people and you have done a real bad job so far.
Mashramani, among other things, is a time when people celebrate success, but apparently the PNC has nothing to celebrate. I want to take this time to personally say congratulations to Dr. Faith Harding who mixed and mingled with revellers and spectators on the road on Mash Day.
