Chief Justice Ian Chang yesterday granted $100,000 bail to abduction accused Keith Ross, who was earlier denied pre-trial liberty, pending his trial at the New Amsterdam Court.
Ross, a surveyor, along with co-accused Winston Collins, Mitchell Benn, Marlon Abel and Derick Seetaram, faced a joint charge of abduction before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Albion Court.
However, the defendants, with the exception of Abel, who was sent on his own recognizance, were granted $20,000 bail each, by the lower court, but Ross was remanded to prison.
In a petition, father of the accused, Keith Ross Snr, said an application was made for bail at the Supreme Court in New Amsterdam, but that application was denied as State Prosecutor Ms Dionne Mc Cammon had indicated to Justice Franklyn Holder that the remanded prisoner had two matters of robbery under arms pending in the lower courts; but this was an error as those matters were discharged for want of prosecution.
