A man is in police custody following an armed robbery in which an unlicensed gun and the booty were recovered. Police said on Saturday, Decase Wintz, 22, of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden, was attacked and robbed by a man armed with a firearm at Sunflower Street, Wismar. The robber took away his jewellery, cash and cell phone and escaped.
At about 15:30hrs on Monday, the victim saw the suspect at Victory Valley, and along with residents of the community, apprehended him and handed him over to the police at Wismar Police Station.
The suspect was searched and the stolen cell phone was found in his possession. Further investigations led to the recovery of an unlicensed .38 Smith and Wesson revolver with three live rounds.
The suspect is in police custody and will be charged shortly.
