THREE men were remanded to prison yesterday, on charges of unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition and robbery under arms.
Joel David, of Lot 1680 South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, and Rondell Tappin and Anthony Warner (no addresses given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. They are charged, indictably, with having, on February 9, being armed with a gun, robbed Donald Joseph of $1.3M, property of Beauty and Home System Inc. (AVON).
They are also facing a summary charge of being in possession of a 9 mm pistol and 16 live matching rounds without licences, to which they pleaded not guilty.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was on his way to Citizens Bank when the three approached, held him at gunpoint and took away the cash with which they escaped in a hire car.
The Prosecutor said, following a report, a mobile police patrol followed the getaway vehicle to the home of David, who is known because he was previously charged with similar offences.
Harvey reported that, following the arrests, the gun, ammunition and $1M of the money were recovered in the house.
The case will be called, again, on March 8.
