POLICE responding to an alarm arrested a man inside Sachi Store, on Regent Street, Georgetown. Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry heard about the arrest when Christopher Joseph (no address given) appeared in court yesterday, on a burglary charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the February 5 offence, particulars of which said he broke and entered the business place and stole perfumes and wrist watches worth a total of $194,000, property of Parmanand Ramkumar.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had secured the premises and left but, in the evening, Police were summoned when the alarm was triggered and the defendant was apprehended.
Joseph was put on $150,000 bail until March 22.
