DERRICK Persaud, 45, of Kuru Kuru College, along Soesdyke/Linden Highway was sentenced to four years imprisonment yesterday for cultivating cannabis (marijuana).
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry also fined him $30,000 after finding him guilty of the March 7, 2007 offence. On being told of his conviction, the prisoner begged the court to have mercy on him because he cares for his elderly parents and a minor child.
