THE Guyana Fire Service (GFS) responded to a call at Patentia Primary School, West Bank Demerara, yesterday morning but found that it was a bomb hoax.
It was one of several calls, within recent weeks, which disrupted classes and both the GFS and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) sent ranks to the scene. The GFS has, since, appealed to the public to act responsibly and desist from such pranks, noting that, in the event of a genuine emergency, it will have to respond.
Before yesterday, an arson set blaze destroyed the AL-AZIZ Splash Inc. juice factory, at Lot 13 L’Esperance, Canal Number One Polder, West Bank Demerara, leaving estimated losses of $100M on Thursday night.
Then, on Saturday morning, what is believed to be the work of some drug addicts severely damaged the two-storey house at Lot 107 Croal Street, Stabroek, Georgetown.
Fortunately, the building was not connected for electricity nor water supply and the GFS contained the flames to the ground floor.
