Court orders medical examination to determine trial fitness

Unlawful wounding case…
DAN Dick (no address given) was yesterday granted self-bail, when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya   Sewnarine-Beharry on an unlawful wounding charge.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on January 28, he unlawfully and maliciously   wounded Teon Anthony.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was at a salon when Dick pelted a bottle that   wounded him.
A man who claimed to be a brother of the defendant made an application for the court to send his sibling for mental   observation but the magistrate advised that Dick be examined by a doctor to determine if he can stand trial.
The court also ordered that a medical certificate, on the defendant’s condition, be presented on March 1.
