Two killed in Sunday road accidents

POLICE are investigating a fatal accident in which an unidentified man, of East Indian descent, was killed about 21:15 hrs on Sunday last.
It happened on Ruimzeight Public Road, West Coast Demerara, where the victim is reported to have left a wedding reception, fallen on to the roadway and run over by a motor vehicle.
The injured man was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival and the body is at the mortuary there.
The driver of the ill-fated vehicle is in custody assisting with the investigations.
The deceased is of dark complexion, thin build and was clad in a pair of blue jeans and white shirt, wearing brown boots.
Anyone who can assist in his identification is asked to call telephone numbers 268-2222, 268-2399, 268-2600, 225-6411 and 911 or contact the nearest Police station.
That was one of two accidents which occurred Sunday. The other, took place about 20:30 hrs at Long Creek, along Soesdyke/Linden Highway, resulting in the death of pedestrian Eddie Williams, 18, of Long Creek.
Police said motor car PFF 6707 was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that Williams attempted to cross its path and was struck. He was taken to Diamond Diagnostic Centre, on East Bank Demerara, where he, too, was pronounced dead on arrival.
The motor car driver is also in custody, pending investigations.
