OVER the past several days comments appearing in the press attributed to  Navin Chanderpal have served to both disturb and disgust me immensely, being a member of this party myself. First of all, I want to state unequivocally that Dr. and Mrs. Cheddi Jagan would not have, under any circumstances, condoned such gross disrespect directed towards the leader of the Party, and President of the country. Dissent was always welcomed and encouraged, but we were always taught to handle such matters behind closed doors, in a mature and professional manner fitting of a member of this great Party.
Navin being a member of this party should uphold its principles and standards and I am therefore shocked to see that he has descended to such lowly depths, all to merely score political points and satisfy his anger and bitterness towards the President.
This conduct cannot be condoned and must be seen for what it is; a desperate and bitter man taking desperate measures to push forward his choice for Presidential Candidate in an attempt to secure his uncertain future.
I call on Comrade Navin to desist from such despicable behavior and remember the old concept of Party first, personalities after.
