A 23-year-old man was yesterday stabbed to death during an argument with another man outside of the Meadow Bank Fish Port Complex, East Bank Demerara.
Dead is Marlon Greene who lived on a dam a short distance away from the fish port.
Relatives said the man was stabbed several times in the neck and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The dead man’s cousin, Michelle Vieira, at whose parents’ home he lived, related to this newspaper that around 9:00 hrs, Greene and an older man were involved in an argument at the gate to the Fish Port. She said that the argument developed into a scuffle, as family members ran to them and attempted to stop the fight.
But the man threw Marlon Greene to the ground and stabbed him several times in the neck.
Greene’s assailant fled the scene, leaving behind his bicycle, hat and a pair of slippers.
The police were summoned, and took away the items at the end of their investigations.
Greene was described by his relatives as hardworking. He worked as a mason with building contractors and when there were no jobs he would clean fish outside the fish port complex at the request of customers.
He leaves to mourn his foster father Stephen Vieira, three brothers, three sisters and several other relatives.
