MR. EDITOR, everyday I have to pass all the bus parks in the city and it is one continuous thing I see, these touts or conductors harassing commuters. These fellows will surround a person who is considered a passenger even if he/she is not travelling and each tout will try to get the person in his bus. Mr. Editor these would-be passengers are manhandled and pulled in different directions by these dirty smelly touts. Sometimes I will get involved and call on these ruffians to leave the person alone as in the case of the 12th at about 7:30 am at the West Demerara Park when a young woman was being manhandled.
This kind of thuggery goes on at all the bus parks in the city, be it West Demerara, Timehri, Linden or Georgetown parks. Of course there are several policemen and women around now but they turn a blind eye to such lawlessness.
Why must this state of affairs be allowed to go on?
