MARK Smith (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison, after he pleaded not guilty to being in unlawful possession of an offensive weapon.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, accused of having, on January 12, in Robb Street, Georgetown, a knife without lawful authority or excuse. Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for the defendant, on the ground that he has no fixed place of abode.
The Prosecutor said Police received information about an incident on Robb Street and, when they arrived on the scene, found Smith with the blade in his hands with no reasonable explanation.
The prisoner on remand has to make his next court appearance on January 17.
