PEOPLE’S National Congress Reform-One Guyana (PNCR-IG) member of the Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Mrs. Marva Bowen, has called for the reintroduction of the previous ferry schedule for Essequibo Coast. She told the statutory meeting, Tuesday, that the tide system scheduling is causing great suffering to commuters who use the service and forcing many to travel by speedboats from Supenaam.
Regional Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh said he concurs that the ferry journeys should be regularised but informed that the Government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to construct a new, modern ferry stelling at Good Hope, to improve the services between Regions Two and Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara).
He reminded that two modern ferry boats are being built in China to be put into operation between Good Hope and Parika by yearend and they will be equipped with roll- on-roll-off facilities.
