Accused driver’s licence forger granted $50,000 bail

DAMI Allicock, 21, has been charged with forgery and uttering a forged document.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, when it was alleged that, between November 11, 2010 and January 6, 2011, with intent to defraud, he conspired with persons unknown to forge a provisional driver’s licence,
purporting to show that it was issued by the Licence Revenue Office, knowing it was a fake.
The other allegation against him is that, on January 6, he uttered, to a Police Corporal, the forgery, purporting to show that it was genuine.
After the defendant (no address given) pleaded not guilty to both charges, Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said he was seen acting in a suspicious manner next to a motorcycle and, when asked to produce his licence, he produced what was found to be a forged document.
Allicock was granted a total of $50,000 bail and the cases will be called, again, on January 14.
