A dazzling display of fireworks illuminated the night sky during a Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ball where President Bharrat Jagdeo attended to usher in the New Year.
Chief-of-Staff of the GDF Commodore Gary Best, senior and junior ranks of the force, along with their spouses, were gathered at Base Camp Ayanganna Officers’ Mess in elegant attire when the President visited.

There he shook hands with those gathered in the atmosphere of elegance before witnessing the fireworks display at midnight.

President Jagdeo then travelled across to the Police Officers’ Mess at Eve Leary, where the Force’s top brass were on hand to usher in the New Year in a party atmosphere.

The Commander- in-Chief, in traditional fashion, joined in the dances with patrons as he spent time mingling with the men and women tasked with the duty of service and protection of the nation.
