SHAWN Ashby (no address given) was yesterday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment on conviction for larceny from the person.
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry inflicted the custodial penalty on him after he pleaded guilty to the charge, that, on December 21, he stole $100,000 from Priya Rampersaud.
The prisoner confessed to the theft and begged for leniency before sentence was pronounced.
