Baksh advocates peaceful campaign for 2011 general elections
CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh has exhorted the populace to maintain peace during the 2011 general elections campaign.
He was addressing members of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) and officials of the five Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) at the final 2010 statutory meeting of the former. Baksh admonished Guyanese not to be hostile and said, while everyone has a right to be campaigning for his or her party, they must do so in a peaceful way.
He said elections will come and go but Guyanese would continue working to build the nation, so the maintenance of peace and unity is important to development.
Baksh said 2010 was a very successful year for the Regional Administration, which has executed its capital works programme.
