Alberto Grant, 35, (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of trafficking in narcotics.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that on December 7, he had 242 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, objected to bail and informed the court that the defendant was found with the cannabis in his possession.
He said the cannabis was found in a haversack between the defendant’s feet.
Grant was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to Bartica court for January 5.
