Suspect in mother-in-law murder discharged from hospital

TWENTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD Toney Henry, who failed in a poison suicide bid after, allegedly killing his mother-in-law, Jennifer Thomas, was discharged from New Amsterdam Hospital, in Berbice, on Wednesday and taken into Police custody.
Last November 30, the body of Thomas was at her Moleson Creek, Corentyne home, also in Berbice, and a post mortem examination, conducted by Government Pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan, established that she died from shock and haemorrhage, resulting from a lacerated wound to the neck.

Henry, who was arrested minutes after the discovery of the wounded woman, was rushed to the operating theatre of the hospital, suffering injury to his left foot that is now in a cast and lacerations to one arm.
Police, in a press statement, had confirmed they are investigating the murder of Thomas, 49, after her body was found about 18:15 hrs, on Tuesday, November 30, with suspected stab wounds to her neck.
Investigations led to the arrest of a suspect who was found in his nearby home with wounds to his left ankle and left wrist and is suspected to have ingested a poisonous liquid in an attempt to kill himself, the Police said.
