THERE has been much debate and discussion about the current status of the PNC/R and its uncertain future and relevance as the second oldest political institution in the country. Many people still hold onto the notion that the party will one day regain its greatness and stature.
Sadly, this is a pipe dream, wishful thinking, false hope. The party that once commanded respect both from its supporters and detractors has now become a political entity in name only. Under the current leadership, the PNC/R has been fatally wounded and is currently heading to the bottom of the Atlantic.
This is evident from the names being made public of potential presidential candidates that could lead the party into the next elections. All of these hopefuls are part and parcel of the old guard, with the exception of Basil Williams, who sadly, is unequipped to lead the PNCR to victory.
The truth is the PNCR has become a toothless tiger whose presence is barely noticeable. The youths especially, will not vote for such an entity. In the political game of chess, the PNCR has made bad decision after bad decision. The worse decision to date is to continue indefinitely with the current cabal of leaders who are clearly inept, mentally bankrupt, visionless and hopeless.
