Ramdhanis breeze past opponents in first round
NATIONAL Under-11 and U-13 2010 Pan American bronze medallist, Priyanna Ramdhani, commenced her quest for another title when she drubbed Angeli Balram 21-1 in her first-round match of the Marian Academy Badminton Club school tournament which got under way last Tuesday.
Also in winners’ row was Priyanna’s older brother, national Under-13 and U-15 champion, Narayan, who overcame Jonathan Mangra 21-11 in his first-round matchup.
Other results in the tournament in which matches are being contested in the Upper and Lower School and Primary departments in both the Boys’ and Girls’ singles are as follows:
Primary School Boys’ Singles:
Joshua Singh defeated Shemroy Holder 21-5, Ransell Ramsaroop won from Mikhail Persaud 21-19
Keon Ramjit got the better of Ransell Ramsaroop: 21-13 and Christopher Camacho demolished Diarra Thomas 21-2
Primary School Girls’ Singles:
Aliyah Seeram whipped Marcelle Pierre 21-5, Ria Persram defeated Arwen Carraway 21-10, Rebecca Ramlal beat Vindhya Challu 21-15, Aliyah Seeram got past Lea Lachamnsingh: 21-19, Rea Persram defeated Rebecca Ramlal: 21-15 and Maya Persram thrashed Jessica Singh: 21-1
Lower School Boys’ Singles:
Brandon Debidin upstaged Yashaswi Toshan: 21-6 and Matthew Vieira defeated Brandon Debidin: 21-10
Upper School Boys’ Singles:
Avinash Odit got the better of Jonathan Hohenkir 21-17
