SPADS Incorporated will sponsor the Guyana National Rifle Association’s (GNRA) end of year Handgun Shooting championships which is slated to fire off on Sunday at Timehri rifle and handgun ranges. The Water Supply and Filtration Systems Company presented the sponsorship cheque to officials of the GNRA at its head office at Thomas Street, Cummingsburg on Tuesday.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Spads Inc. Pauline Stevenson said that her company was pleased to sponsor the event which is expected to attract close to 25 shooters and gets underway at 10:00h sharp.
GNRA Secretary Ryan Sampson thanked the company for sponsoring the tournament adding that the GNRA was looking forward to a fruitful relationship with Spads Inc, in the presence of GNRA Treasurer Lt. Col. Terry Stuart and small-bore captain Joseph Chin.
Chin, who will act as Chief Range Officer on Sunday, said the day will be a very packed one so there will be a strict cut off time for registration, with all prizes won being presented at the GNRA Annual Presentation Ceremony at a date to be announced shortly.
The first stages will be the 9mm bottle target, and .22 precision, which will be run off at the same time, with these stages expected to take no more than an hour to be completed, following which new stages will be erected.
The championship was originally scheduled for two days but was reduced to one day due to the closure of the TSU ranges at Eve Leary, with Dale Hing, Dr. Johann Da Silva, Ryan Mc Kinnon, James Singh, Mohammed Qualander , Terry Stuart, Michael Blake, David Dharry and Captain B. Murli vying for top honours.
