West Bank Demerara murder trial adjourned to December 16

– May be aborted if sick juror not recovered by then
THE West Bank Demerara murder trial which was halted on Monday owing to the illness of a member of the jury has been adjourned to December 16.
And it is understood that if she is not well enough to sit on that day, the trial will have to be aborted.
This course is likely to be taken as a consequence of the coming Christmas holidays,
but there are those who think that because of the stage at which the trial had reached, a further two-week adjournment would suffice to reach a verdict in the event that the juror is still sick on the 16th.
On trial for murder is Lakenauth Dial, called Mohan, who is indicted with the murder of Farzan Khan of Canal No. 2 Polder on the night of February 2, 2008.
Lakenauth Dial is represented by Attorney-at-Law Mr. Vic Puran. The prosecution is conducted by lawyers Miss Latchmie Rahamat and Ms. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin of the DPP Chambers.
The prosecution is alleging that on the night in question, the killing took place in Clay-Brick Road, not far from a wedding house, when Farzan Khan left in a car to purchase a soft drink. As soon as he exited the car, he was attacked and  stabbed to death.
Police investigations that followed led to the arrest of Lakenauth Dial who was charged with murder.
Yesterday, the police analyst who was present in court to give the fresh evidence, was told to return on the l6th.
