OVER the weekend, Non Pariel residents and soon to be residents were greeted by Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, during the ministry’s 13th ‘One Stop Shop’ exercise for the year at the Strathspey Primary School on the East Coast of Demerara. Five hundred house lots were distributed to residents for section ‘D’ Non Pariel. This means, that five hundred families can now proudly boast of owning their homes. A dream that most Guyanese during the dark years of the PNC government could not even imagine, has now been materialised.
However, making house lots available throughout Guyana is no easy task. This was only made a reality due to hard work and dedication on the part of the government. Careful and strategic planning was executed in order to realise the President’s goal of allocating 17,000 house lots by September 2011. To date, 10,160 house lots have already been allocated across Guyana. These allotted house lots will certainly aid in developing and improving the lives and the standard of living of the families that have acquired their new house lots. And certainly put Guyana on the road to realising the goal of allotting 17,000 house lots by September 2011.
