FORMER Member of Parliament (MP) and longstanding member of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Mr. Eddie Rodney visited Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), on Thursday and paid a courtesy call on Regional Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh in his office. The visitor, who is also a senior reporter of Mirror newspaper, said, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, he wanted to see the development taking place in the
‘Cinderella County’.
Rodney who once worked alongside the PPP Founder, Dr. Cheddi Jagan and his wife, Mrs. Janet Jagan, both deceased Presidents of Guyana, said he has served the party in
different capacities over the past years.
Rodney is the brother of assassinated Dr. Walter Rodney, who was a revolutionary fighter for the freedom of all Guyanese.
The surviving sibling told the Guyana Chronicle he believes in the Marxist philosophy and has strong feelings for the working class.
He has travelled extensively across Guyana and abroad and knowledgeable in international affairs and African History.
Rodney said he served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) which took him to the Middle East and Africa.
