…iced coffees and teas and a place to relax
A business that would attract both Guyanese and tourists and benefit Guyana, is the idea behind The Coffee Bean Café and Eatery, Guyana’s latest coffee shop, ceremonially launched last Saturday by Tourism Minister Manniram Prashad and open for business from Monday. Located at 133 Church Street in the Jainarine Singh Building, the café and eatery owned by Sita Dewnath and daughter Narvini Dewnath-Omar is offering the public a wide range of hot and iced coffees, juices, teas, sodas, pastries and breakfast and lunch options.
Narvini, speaking to the Guyana Chronicle, said she and her family who travel widely wanted to get into business but were not sure what type to invest in. After some research, they decided that opening a coffee shop was the thing to do.
‘We want to add to the society, somewhere recreational and family-oriented,” she said.
She promises ‘Guyanese days’, ‘Italian Days’, ‘Indian Days’ and so on, where cuisine from different cultures will be available. On holidays, such as Emancipation, Diwali, the Chinese New Year – there will be foods to celebrate these.
The café’s website is already up and running and will be kept updated by Hank, Narvini’s technologically savvy husband. Customers can log in to keep abreast of promotions and offers and can register to have weekly menus sent to them.
For every five coffees purchased in one week, customers will be given one free coffee. Every 100th customer will be given a prize.
