Motorist involved in Oleg Vidner’s death turns himself in

The story of the accidental death of motorcyclist Oleg Vidner, previously thought to have been due to a one vehicle accident, took a twist yesterday when the driver of a black Tundra vehicle turned himself in the Police and reported that his vehicle had been involved in an accident with the motorcyclist. The driver is reported to have sent two Lawyers to the Providence Police Station on the East Bank Demerara,  before he eventually showed up .
Sources confirmed that he was grilled and then   released on substantial station bail pending further investigations into the fatal accident.
Vidner, a citizen of Estonia , Northern Europe , died  on the East Bank Public road Tuesday,  less than 24 hours before he was due to return home .
Those who did not actually witness the accident had been baffled by the extent of his injuries since it was assumed that he had merely fallen off his motorcycle.
The surrender by  the  apparent hit-and-run driver yesterday morning ended the speculation .
Prior to his death, Vidner lived at 1090 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara ,  with his Guyanese wife, Monica.
She told the Chronicle yesterday that she had been informed that a post mortem will be done on Friday and the bodywill be handed over for burial shortly after.
She was not quite yet sure whether her late husband will be buried here or in his homeland.
She said she had contacted the dead man’s daughter who lives in Estonia.
