Honourable Mention

THE ARTICLE paying homage to Sheik Sadeek (November 21) evoked varied responses, mainly positive.
A great part of that response called for some sort of tribute to be paid to the many unsung heroes of Guyanese Literature. Many names were mentioned, some unknown to the general public and even to the literati.
At first glance, I decided to compile a shortlist then do the research, forthwith, to make my findings public. I was suckered into this project because of the scores of biographies I have produced since 2005, some with ease, others necessitating expansive and expensive research. Ipso facto, I thought I had a database from which I could now turn to for substance.
Another look at my data revealed that there was little or no information on the writers mentioned by those responding to the article. So I deferred the task until I make another appeal to you to supply names of Guyanese writers worthy of some sort of recognition. Of course, please supply information or any leads whatsoever on names you may mention.
