THE man who, allegedly, beat his mother to death with a hammer last week, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday and was remanded to prison on the murder charge.
Adrian Mc Kenzie is charged with having unlawfully killed Ethel Andries, on November 16, at their Sand Creek, Rupununi home.
Initial reports of the tragedy said the 62-year old victim had reprimanded her son over an assault on his father and he was about to attack his grandfather when she intervened and was hammered in the head.
Mc Kenzie will make his next appearance, on the matricide charge, at Lethem Court, also in Rupununi, to where the case has been transferred, on  December 7.
