CORPORATE support for BK International Western Tigers’ inaugural Super 8 knockout tournament continues to pour in, with Keishar’s Gift Shoppe being the latest entity to throw their support behind the tournament. At its launching held last month, president of BK International Western Tigers and Attorney-at-Law Gordon Gilhuys said his club came up with the idea of having this tournament, since no football was played in Georgetown.
“About two months ago I sat down with my fellow executives of the club and we decided to organize this tournament, not only to raise funds for our club, but also give football fans in Georgetown a glimpse of what should have been the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) Premier League,” stated Gilhuys.
At a simple ceremony held in their Camp and Hadfield Street’s showroom, manager of Keishar’s Gift Shoppe Shiv Nandalall handed over the second, third and fourth place trophies to the host club.
“On behalf of Keishar’s Gift Shoppe, I wish to express my appreciation to the executives of BK Western Tigers who have afforded us the opportunity to be associated with this tournament that is being played for the first time.
We believe that sports is a vehicle that can be used to unite people and with that in mind, I hope that this tournament brings out the best in not only the players, but the executives from the various clubs involved. I take this opportunity to wish them all the best of luck,” stated Nandalall.
Gilhuys thanked the sponsors for their willingness to come on board with the tournament, while expressing his desire for their continued support in the future, since they have been supporting the West Ruimveldt based club for a number of years.
