SCORES of Guyanese braved early morning showers and lined the streets of Georgetown to see resplendently uniformed ranks of the Guyana Defence Force march through the capital, part of the Force’s 45th anniversary celebrations. The ranks from the many branches of the GDF, including Coast Guard, the infantry, medical and engineer corps departed Base Camp Ayanganna at about 05:30 h on a route that took them through selected city streets and back to the base camp.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds took the salute in front of the Botanical Gardens on Vlissengen Road, flanked by Army top brass, Commodore Gary Best, and Colonel, General Staff, Bruce Lovell.
The GDF is currently celebrating 45 years as a force under the theme, “Transforming for continued Service.” (GINA)
