Internet disconnected even though I have $17,000 credit balance

ON Tuesday November 9, 2010 my DSL service was disconnected, when I called to enquire I was told I was disconnected for non-payment, however at the same time the operator told me that they owed me $17,000. When I asked how is it possible for me to be disconnected for non-payment when I have a credit balance with GT&T, the puzzled, slow, dim-witted and inexperienced operator said he does not know but they will connect back my service after the holiday on Wednesday since they did not have any technician at the moment to do it.
My internet service is very important to my family and I for several reasons. Hence we always pay extra to avoid any situation like this one. As of Thursday the 11th, my service which was wrongfully disconnected was still not reconnected, so I decided to call GT&T again. The first operator hang up the phone on me, the next several attempts were futile since all the calls to 0488 either went unanswered or after waiting for more than 15 minutes were disconnected. So GT&T tell me what should I do now? Should I “Emagine” I have internet?
