Leaking roof halts court proceedings yesterday

JUSTICE William Ramlal was forced to adjourn court at the criminal sessions at the Demerara Assizes yesterday because of a leaking roof in his court room. The judge was presiding at the West Ruimveldt Front Road murder trial involving accused Paul Bagot for the murder of Abigale Gittens when a heavy shower forced him to remove his chair from one position to another.
As the rain continued, more leaks appeared, wetting Hid Lordship’s robe.
Before adjourning the Court shortly after 10:00hrs, the judge remarked that he had been complaining about the leaking roof for a long time.
The judge declared, “I cannot work under these conditions”.
