THE newly sworn-in members of the Public Service Commission held their first meeting yesterday at the Office of the President, and having elected an executive, the first order of business is to address the backlog of matters from the last three months.
This is according to Vice Chairman of the Commission, Carvil Duncan. The Commission is being spearheaded by returning Chairman Ganga Persaud.
Duncan said, “We had a meeting this morning (Monday morning) and the first order of the meeting was to conduct an election, and having conducted elections we went into business. The first order of business is to ensure that we deal with what we call a backlog over the last three months. We have to try to clear that up, so that we would really start looking at the current things.”
The other members of the Commission are Cecil Seepersaud, Michael Desmond Hope, Vera Naughton and Vidyawattie Looknauth. They were sworn in on Friday at the Office of the President.
The PSC is responsible for all promotions and disciplinary issues within the Public Service.
