AN ESSEQUIBO businessman was robbed in Georgetown last Saturday in a brazen daylight attack.
Four days after being beaten and relieved of $350,000 while in the vicinity of Stabroek Car Park, Crisnauth Kassinauth, 49, of Church Street, Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, is still hoping that Police would find the bandits he was able to describe. The lumber dealer said the robbery took place around 15:00 hrs as he was walking outside Demico House in downtown Georgetown. Two men, one armed with a knife and the other a piece of wood, pounced on him.
He said the duo blocked his path and one brandished the blade before grabbing the bag containing the money.
Kassinauth said before he could quite comprehend what was happening, the other robber dealt him a blow to the right side of his head with the piece of wood and be fell unconscious. He does not know how long he was on the ground but, when he regained consciousness, he was being helped by a hire car driver. By then, his two assailants had already escaped and he was taken to Brickdam Police Station where he made a report.
Kassinauth said the Police showed him several photographs of wanted men but none looked like his attackers.
Later, he went to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and was treated and sent away.
The proprietor of M.H. Kassim Lumber Establishment on the Essequibo Coast said he has customers there and visits the city regularly to transact business.
On Saturday, he had just collected the cash which was stolen.
