PATRICK Watson of Lot 81 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday granted $200,000 bail, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on an armed robbery charge. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on October 14, being armed with an ice pick, he robbed Stephen Ramsaran of a laptop computer valued $180,000 in booty worth a total of $241,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was walking along Regent Street, Georgetown, when Watson, who was accompanied by another person, approached him, placed the ice pick to his side and relived him of his property.
The Prosecutor said the defendant was arrested on the basis of a given description but gave an alibi.
The case will be called, again, on November 1.
