Navratra a time to reconcile differences

“NAVRATRA (Navratri) is not simply an occasion for puja and reflection, but equally the most appropriate time for us to reconcile our own differences and resolve to correct and remove all our wrong doings and vices.”  This statement was made during Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud’s sermon at the Shree Krishna Mandir, Campbellville, Georgetown during the sacred period of Navratra.
He further posits that he is moved by large participations countrywide and the fact that devotees cover large percentage of young people, during the observance confirmed only to eating vegetarian food and abstaining from alcoholic beverages. This is commendable he declared pointing out that he would like to see a greater number of people becoming vegetarians.
The President of the Dharmic Sabha said Navratra is celebrated both in the spring and the autumn, with the autumn celebration culminating in Vijai Dashmi – the day of victory.  Hinduism he declared is all embracing with a strict set of rules which, if followed will influence our future and make us spiritually alert and conscious.  He hoped that for next year simple handouts will be available to better inform and equip individuals to participate in Navratra.  The service shared in devotional songs and music in which the entire congregation participated.( Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha release)
