Jagdeo was instrumental in cleaning up Clico mess

IN 2008, Clico Guyana collapsed – a direct consequence of the chain reaction brought on by the collapse of Clico Bahamas. Clico workers were dismissed and policyholders were in fear of losing the investments they had made in the company.
Clico made lousy financial decisions, and policyholders were paying that price. During this time,
all hope was lost. Naturally, people channelled their frustration towards the government. President Jagdeo was erroneously blamed for the illegal and unwise investments that Clico made.
There were many criticisms that were made against President Jagdeo, who in return, promised that he would personally see to it that all Clico policyholders were repaid. Even these promises were highly scrutinized as critics were skeptical, and ready and willing to point fingers. Their interest at this time was not focused on the policyholders; they were too concerned with using the Clico issue to bad-talk the President.
But where are these critics now? Why aren’t they congratulating President Jagdeo for delivering to policyholders, the peace of mind and calm assurance of financial security that was snatched from them when, like a sand castle, Clico inevitably crumbled?
Today, the President had owned up to his promise. He has made it his duty to personally oversee the Clico matter.  Because the president kept his word, all 11,000 small policy holders are being repaid, and the other policy holders are in the process of being repaid. Let’s give Jack his Jacket, Jagdeo was an instrumental player in securing for policy holders what was rightfully theirs.
