Anna Regina Town Council takes Court action for $5M

CHAIRMAN of the Local Government and Co-ops Sub-Committee of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Pooran Persaud disclosed yesterday that the Anna Regina Town Council has taken several of the market vendors to Court for $5M outstanding fees.
The money is owned over several years and Acting Town Clerk, Ms. Dianne Critchlow said the municipality had to take legal action because the defaulters refused to pay despite being served several notices.
Persaud rejoined to tell the statutory meeting that the Town Council is also warning citizens, especially cattle owners, to keep their animals off the public road and streets.
He said strays are constantly destroying parapets along drainage trenches and causing more maintenance expense.
