Two committed for murder, manslaughter trials

MAGISTRATE Tejnarine Ramroop, at Blairmont Court, West Bank Berbice, last Thursday, ruled that prima facie cases were made out against two men charged, separately, with murder.
As a consequence, Colin Bentick, 37, of Number 42 Village, West Coast Berbice and Glynston Darlington, 56, of Ithaca, West Bank Berbice, were both committed to stand jury trial at the Berbice Assizes.
Police Inspector Donna Grant-Fraser, prosecuting, had led several witnesses to prove that, on October 31, 2008, dreadlocked Bentick killed Elon Shepherd, a clothes vendor, at Seafield, West Coast Berbice.
Darlington is alleged to have shot cattle hand Marlon Fraser dead, on September 6, 2008, in Ithaca savannah but he will be tried for manslaughter.
