Police step up investigations into Neesa’s murder

The Guyana Police have roped in some of its best investigators to probe the gruesome murder of 16-year-old  Queen’s College student and Leonora, West Coast Demerara resident Neesa Gopaul.
The young woman’s corpse was discovered in a suitcase that was submerged with locally-made dumbbells in a creek at the Emerald Tower resort on the Soesdyke/Linden highway.
A source told the Guyana Chronicle that the sleuths have stepped up the pace of the investigations and have been painstakingly revisiting every iota of material and other information garnered to date, to ensure that all of the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed.

On Monday, the investigators returned to the scene and removed the suitcase, two locally-made dumbbells along with a length of rope that was attached to them.
The young woman’s mother Naree Gopaul, her live-in lover, Jarvis Small, and the man’s legal wife, Marceline Basdeo- Small, a former beauty contestant, remain in custody as suspects in the young woman’s murder.
With the expiration of the 72 hours deadline for the detaining of suspects without instituting a charge, Police sought and was granted an extension  which ends on Saturday.
