THE Guyana Telephone & Telegraph (GT&T) Company yesterday made a timely donation to the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) to offset expenses related to the hosting of Group C of the Caribbean Football Union’s World Under-20 qualifying competition which kicks off at the National Stadium, Providence today. Marketing Assistant Abena Fung yesterday handed over the cheque to Assistant Secretary Organising of the GFF Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major and noted that her company was once again happy to be supporting the development of football in Guyana and the Region.
“We are very happy to be partnering with the GFF as they host three other Caribbean sister nations in what is expected to be a good and competitive tournament. GT&T has a proud track record of partnering with the GFF and we give our full support to the local team as they seek to make our country proud.
GT&T would also like to extend a warm welcome to the other teams.”
Major responded by stating the GFF’s profound thanks to GT&T for their continued support while noting that they will be proud of the ‘Junior Jaguars’.
He disclosed that admission to the games (double headers) will be $1000.00 with children Under-12 being admitted free of charge.
“I would like to remind the fans to wear something gold or yellow in support of our team and to come out in their numbers to cheer these guys on.”
Kick off time this is 17:00h when Jamaica takes on Grenada to be followed by the feature game between Guyana and the United States Virgin Islands.
